Every so often, crocheters need to spend some time relaxing, sharing projects, offering advice, and just enjoying crocheting together.

Garment Construction Workshops
Fishnet Crocheters spent the fall learning to create crocheted garments that fit. Some are working on sweaters or vests from patterns while others are trying their hand at designing their own. Help on garments will be offered at each meeting for as long as crocheters take to complete their projects.

Crocheted Sock Workshop ~ Part 1
Fishnet Crcoheters began a 3 part sock workshop which will last through the summer. Today, we learned about sock yarns, types of heel construction, and how to create a stretchy sock fabric. Using the Toe Up Sock instructions by Linda Diak from Grafton Fibers, we began on the toe and foot. Next month -- we'll create the heel opening and work on the leg and cuff.

Several Fishnets traveled today to the Hopkinton State Fairgrounds for the 2009 NH Sheep and Wool Festival. In addition to sharing lunch and sampling the goodies the food vendors had to offer, we browsed the markets, bought yarn, yarn, and more yarn, and enjoyed all the animals-- sheep, alpacas, bunnies, and goats.
We met Kelly of Tucker Woods Farm in Connecticut and were delighted to see her showcasing the art of crochet with this fabulous, elegant shawl.
April 26, 2009
We enjoyed an informal gathering where we shared projects, browsed through stitch dictionaries, and tagged items for our charity project.

Today's meeting featured learning new techniques for joining crocheted fabric together. Crocheters had the opportunity to try whip stitch, mattress seam and woven seam techniques. In addition, several crochet techniques were tried -- slip stitch, single crochet, reverse single crochet, faggoting, and the flad braid join. With ample resources available, Fishnets helped one another with the method that attracted them for a project they are currently working on, or simply one they wanted to learn.
December 28, 2008 Although the calendar says that this is the end of the year, for the Fishnet Crocheters, this was another new beginning for us as we met for the first time at the Cary Memorial Library in Lexington, MA. We are so pleased and privleged to have this fabulous, comfortable, large space in which to meet. Access was easy, with plenty of parking available. We welcomed 3 new persons into our circle -- we're always glad to have new faces to enrich our group! After introductions and show and tell, we got down to business -- our Go Green Yankee Yarn Swap.
Crocheters who wished to particpate were asked to bring some unused yarn to swap, enough for a crocheter to use for creating a scarf. All yarns were to be wrapped in a ecologocially firendly manner (resused or recyclable wrapping of some sort).
Crocheters had fun opening to see what was hidden under the wrappings, oohing and ahhing over new yarns to try out, and even swapping a few skeins around.
