Dona Cerulee Attends Chain Link 2009 in August

Dona travelled to Buffalo, NY for the Crochet Guild of America's15th annual Chain Link Conference.  Buffalo rolled out the welcome mats for attendees,

Even  the painted Buffalo standing watch in the Convention Center lobby offered a cheerful greeting:

The first night, there was a full moon over the city:

Dona was eager to get started in on classes -- and especially enjoyed learning about Celtic Lace.

July 26 ~ Dona Cerulee Learns to Crochet Socks

After a hiatus at sea to visit oceanic friends and relatives, Dona Cerulee came ashore to join the Fishnet Crocheters for their Crocheted Sock Workshop.  Unlike her human companions who only need to make 2 socks to complete a set, Dona needs 8 socks to keep each of her tootsies clad in what is hot in crochet fashion.  Withe the help of the other Fishnets, Dona was able to crawl away with 4 socks completed.

News and Information about Dona Cerulee from 2008

Meet Dona Cerulee

Dona Cerule is the newest member of the Fishnet Crocheters. She hails from the icy North Atlantic waters off the coast of New England. Dona is a lady of nobility – her Boston blue blood (well, shell) is testament to how rare and precious she is. Recently, Dona narrowly escaped entrapment by a crew of New England lobstermen who had hoped to profit from her exquisite coloring. Realizing how lucky she was, Dona came ashore and joined the Fishnet Crocheters. Her tribulation made her realize that there are better things to do with fishnet than to hook innocent sea creatures into captivity. So much better to use your hooking talents to crochet items of beauty, if not utility. Dona has become a Fishnet Crocheter extraordinaire. She magically spins her yarn from the pearl of a delicate oyster. And as she wraps herself in her fibers, she is ever grateful to hold hook in hand (well, claw) and crochet away…….

Dona's Projects:

Dona takes the fishnets left in the ocean and makes shawls and snoods for the mermaids. They were complaining about their hair getting into their eyes while sitting on the rocks. They also felt a chill sitting on the rocks with the wind blowing. Dona, ever helpful, came to the rescue.

Dona is very close friends with Davy Jones. He has a standing order for vests and watch caps. Dona, always aware of the environment not only uses discarded sea nets, but she also crochets with sea weed. Mr. Swordfish is also a close friend, and he cuts sea nets for Dona to use. The octopus rolls it up in balls for her and the manta ray delivers a back full. If Dona visits her friends on sunken ships the electric eel comes along to provide light so Dona can see her stitches. You can see her handiwork on some sunken ships in the curtains she has made for the portholes per request of the mermen and mermaids.

We are pleased that Dona Cerule has joined our humble group. Please watch for updates on Dona’s adventures in crochet. We expect nothing but sheer inspiration from her!

Dona Attends Chain Link 2008

Dona Cerulee had a great time at Chain Link in Manchester, NH. She attended Professional Development Day along with other Fishent Crocheters. With hook in claw, she attended several classes.

Along with Chapter President, Pat, Dona enjoyed Illusion Crochet, taught by Darla Fanton:

Dona also took Hairpin Lace with Jennifer Hanson, Crochet Beaded Ropes and Delta Crochet with Karen Whooley, and Mosaic Crochet, where she had her picture taken with Lily Chin:

Dona shopped the market for yarn, beads, hooks, books and shawl pins.  Unfortunately, Dona missed part of the banquet, as she decided to crash the wedding that was taking place in what had been one of the classrooms. However, toward the end of the fashion show, she decided, with the help of hotel staff, to join her group and she reappeard for the final fashion showing. All in all, Dona had a marvelous time at Chain Link.
