Charity Project for Victims of Domestic Violence in 2009
FIshnet Crocheters spent the summer and fall creating items to keep women and children warm during winter months. Hats, scarves, shawls, and throws were crocheted to be donated to the women's shelter. In addition to crocheting for the women, Fishnet Crocheters also collected yarn, hooks and needles so that women who would like may have the opportunity to enjoy working on their own creations.
Items were delivered in time for distribution before holiday giving season:

In the Spring of 2009, Fishnet Crocheters continued to crochet for the women's shelter.
We were specifically asked to think about special items for Mother's Day. Items were collected at our April 2009 meeting.
Springtime scarves and shawls were created along with toiletry tote gift bags, stuffed with soaps, lotions, shampoos, and other personal care items.

Charity Project for Victims of Domestic Vilence in 2008 We all have our preference on what we like to crochet. That said this year we thought it would be nice if we allowed full creativity for our charity project. The Women's Resources fits the bill. These women are victims of domestic violence and abuse. The shelter needs adult (female) hats, scarves or any adult type clothing. They allow children up to the age of 10 and the same things are needed for them both male and female. They do get women with babies and would love to have some baby outfits. They were just as excited about us giving them crochet items as we were in finding a place to donate. Items to be donated were collected at our October meeting and prepared for giving to the shelter. A total of 84 items were collected, including 9 hat and scarf sets, 10 shawls, 23 scarves, 31 hats, and 2 sweaters. Any items not completed will be collected at a later date and mailed to the shelter.
